Horikawa Kunihiro
"Me? I'm called Horikawa Kunihiro. Together with Izuminokami Kanesada, I served Hijikata Toshizou as a wakizashi. Whether or not I'm a real Kunihiro remains to be proven, but at the very least, I was without a doubt Kane-san's... I mean, Kanesada's partner."
Forged in 1531-1631 CE. Was sold to Hijikata Toshizo and known as the beloved sword of his. Was used as a reference for Izuminokami Kanesada and became his wakizashi. During the battle of Hakodate, Izuminokami was sent away as a memento and relic whilst Horikawa stayed and was used in battle. There, he watched his master die in front of him and he couldn't do anything about it. The current whereabouts of his sword are unknown. One common theory is that Horikawa Kunihiro was one of the many swords confiscated by the American occupying forces as a disarmament measure at the end of World War II. Most of the confiscated swords were dumped at sea. However, the Hijikata household has no records of Horikawa Kunihiro being confiscated, nor of the sword ever returning to Hijikata's hometown as Izuminokami Kanesada did. Thus no evidence exists as to what actually became of the sword. After being brought to life by the sage, he wishes to reunite with Izuminokami.
